Who doesn't love milk and oreos? They go so well together!

That's why I wanted to create a similar flavor in a mug cake.

I'm such a huge fan of mug cakes! I love the fact that they are really quick, yet still taste great. They are perfect for emergency cravings!

This oreo mug cake recipe is adapted from my Vegan Mug Brownie recipe and it's one of my favorite dessert recipes to make.

I think you'll love this oreo and milk mug cake!

Why you'll love this Oreo mug cake

  • It makes a great single-serving dessert. A perfect dessert for one for a quick treat.
  • It doesn't have a lot of ingredients. You only need a handful of ingredients for this microwave oreo cake.
  • There are no eggs. This is an eggless mug cake. I never add eggs to my mug cakes because I feel they make them rubbery.
  • It's super quick. This microwave mug cake is ready in less than 2 minutes.
  • It's delicious. This mug cake is so good, you'll be making it again and again.

What does this Oreo mug cake taste like? Is Oreo mug cake good?

This Oreo cake in a mug is delicious! It's not overly sweet and there are yummy Oreo cookies in every bite. It's not a mud cake with oreos, it's more of a cookies and cream cake.

I topped mine with some vanilla buttercream frosting and some more crushed Oreo cookies on top, which are great with this mug cake.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE

Ingredients for Oreo mug cake

Labeled ingredients for Oreo mug cake.
Just a few ingredients!
  • Oreos: I use regular Oreo cookies, but you could also use your favorite Oreo cookie flavor.
  • Flour: I use all purpose flour.
  • Baking powder: I use a little to help give the cake some lift.
  • Sugar: I use regular, granulated sugar.
  • Salt: I use a pinch of salt to bind all the flavors together.
  • Milk: I use fresh whole milk, but you could use non dairy milk or low-fat milk, instead.
  • Oil: I use some light vegetable oil.
  • Vanilla: I use pure vanilla extract.

Equipment you'll need

You only need a microwave safe mug for this recipe! Just make sure it has a capacity of 7-8 oz (200-300gr).

Some cooked Oreo mug cake on a spoon with an Oreo cookie, vanilla buttercream frosting and crushed Oreo cookies.

Storage Tips

This oreo microwave cake is meant to be served immediately. I wouldn't store it for later, as it can get hard.

Variations & Add-ins

This Oreo microwave mug cake is great on its own, however there are lots of different ways to play around with other flavors. Here are a few ideas:

  • Add 1 or 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder if you want a chocolate Oreo mug cake.
  • You could also fill the mug with half of the batter, then top it with a whole Oreo cookie, and then put the remaining batter on top. A yummy Oreo in a cup cake!
  • You might also want to try it with some mini chocolate chips!
  • Serve this Oreo cup cake with some vanilla ice cream , homemade salted caramel sauce, or my homemade chocolate sauce for a more indulgent treat.
  • It's also amazing with some whipped cream on top!

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  • Don't overfill the mug or it will overflow. I usually fill it about halfway. If you want a larger portion, I'd double the ingredients and make it in a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl, instead of a mug.
  • This cake is hot when it's done, so before serving, let it cool down for about a minute or so.
  • The cooking time will vary depending on your microwave oven. This recipe is based on my microwave, which is 1000 watts, which took 1½ minutes cook time.

FAQs

Can you make Oreo mug cake with almond milk?

Of course! I would use sugar free almond milk, though.

Can I bake a cake in a mug in an oven instead of a microwave?

Yes, but you need to use an oven safe mug or oven-proof ramekin.

Hope you enjoy this recipe!

Happy Baking!

Baking Measurements
I have used weight measurements for all the recipes on this website. Even though I have also included American volume measurements for convenience, I highly recommend using a digital kitchen scale to weigh all ingredients for the most accurate measurements. Digital kitchen scales are more precise than cups, which is so important in baking, and they give the most accurate, consistent results. Happy baking!

Tried it on Easter Sunday. Super easy and quick to make. It works 100%.
Might try experimenting with strawberries, too.
