WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE
Ingredients for granola smoothie

- Fruit: I use a frozen banana and half an apple. I love smoothies with bananas because they create a perfect creaminess.
- Spices: I use a little bit of ground cinnamon.
- Milk: I use low fat milk, but you could also use plant-based milk, if you prefer. I think full-fat coconut milk would be good, too.
- Homemade granola: I use my own recipe for homemade granola because it's a lot healthier and tastier than store-bought, but feel free to use ready made granola.
See the recipe card at the end of the post for quantities.
Equipment you'll need
- a high powered blender

Recipe Notes
Storage Tips
I never store smoothies, but you could keep them in the refrigerator for about 1-2 days, if you wanted to.
Freezing Tips
I suggest freezing the ingredients until you're ready to blend the smoothie. You could also blend the smoothie and then freeze it by placing it in freezer bags or freezer cups, leaving some space at the top.
You can freeze it for up to about a month. To thaw, just let it out on the counter for a couple of hours or leave it in the fridge overnight.
Variations
Instead of making this smoothie with granola, you might want to try a few other variations. Here are a few ideas:
- Make a berry smoothie by adding your favorite berries. Blueberries and strawberries are my favorites.
- This particular recipe is a granola smoothie without yogurt, but you could easily make a banana berry yogurt smoothie! Add some Greek yogurt with your favorite berries and a banana. I love how the Greek yogurt gives the smoothie a nice tangy flavor.
- For something a bit sweeter and nuttier, add some homemade peanut butter and make turn this recipe into a peanut butter granola smoothie.
- Add some seeds, like chia seeds, or nuts for some texture.

How to make granola smoothie bowls
Just blend everything together and then pour the smoothie into a bowl instead of a glass. Then you can top it with extra fruit or granola and enjoy it with a spoon.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- Make sure you have a good, high powered blender for a perfectly smooth and creamy texture.
- You'll need the frozen banana to thicken the smoothie. I never use ice because it can make smoothies watery.
- If you freeze the smoothie, make sure you shake it well before serving because it could separate when it thaws out.
- Fruit and berries are excellent natural sweeteners for smoothies.
- Add a little more milk if your smoothie is too thick, or more frozen bananas if it's too thin.
FAQs
Yes! As long as you use a high powered blender, you can easily blend granola in a smoothie.
OMG, yes! It's definitely good and with homemade granola, it's not too sweet, either.
This is a personal preference. There are a few things I never mix in a smoothie like canned fruit, fruit juice, or sugar because they tend to make the smoothie way too sweet.
Enjoy!
